We are deeply saddened by the passing of John Wirz – “Jono” or “Wirzy,” a friend to all and a loyal servant to our cricket and wider community.
John dedicated countless years to the game – serving as a CGCA delegate, GCL Umpires Secretary, and giving so much of his time and energy to the Yallourn North Cricket Club. He was always willing to lend a hand, whether on the field, at the club, or in the community.
Fondly known as the “Mayor of Yallourn North,” Jono will be remembered for his kindness, passion for sport, and his genuine care for others. From sharing a laugh and a chat, to umpiring with fairness and encouragement, to helping out wherever needed, he left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
Our thoughts are with Wendy, Amanda, Sue, and all of Jono’s family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
