2023 heralded the inaugural season of Cricket Latrobe Valley (CLV). CLV was formed by amalgamating the Latrobe Valley District Cricket League (previously Central Gippsland Cricket Association) and Traralgon District Cricket Association.
The result has created a 21-club league, making for one of the biggest cricket leagues in country Victoria.
Cricket Latrobe Valley now stands alongside regional powerhouse Ballarat in terms of number of cricket clubs encapsulating its catchment area.
The CLV season will see teams play three one-day games to start, before moving into the longer format. For those that have joined from the TDCA, it will be a return to two-day cricket for the first time since 2021.
A Grade teams have been divided into two divisions. The premier from A Grade will gain promotion to Premier A, replacing the side that finishes last in the top division.
The senior men's competition consists of six divisions: Premier A Grade, A Grade, Premier B Grade, B Grade, Premier C Grade and C Grade. A promotion and relegation system applies to each of these competitions, allowing for flexibility in the structure of the season fixtures. Teams that are consistently successful can move up, while struggling teams face the challenge of rebuilding in lower divisions. This fluidity helps clubs adapt to changes in team strength, ensuring that the highest level of competition remains strong and relevant.
Since it's first season in 2021-22 (as part of the Latrobe Valley & Districit Cricket League), the women's competition has gone from strength to strength. While very much in the development stage, it's exciting to see the growth of the competition from 6 teams in 2021, to 9 teams in 2023. Women's matches are played on Thursday evenings, with modified rules to encourage participation and skill development.

The League is also committed to fostering talent through a number of development squads.
